Check Out the Science -

September 2021

It is field season once again, and a busy summer is ahead. The NAA is dedicated to the support and advancement of natural areas professionals, and we have been working hard to collect the conservation science and best practices you need.

Check it out!

The July 2021 issue of the Natural Areas Journal is now available.

The Natural Areas Journal is a peer-reviewed, scientific journal focused on natural areas management, preservation and restoration, featuring papers from around the globe.

April’s publication includes an open-access article: Targeted Species Projects for Volunteers to Increase Early Detection Capacity: The Water Chestnut Mapping Challenge by Amy Jewitt, Emma Antolos, Colleen Lutz, and Jennifer Dean

Interested in submitting an article to the Natural Areas Journal? Check out these resources: Submissions, Guidelines for Authors. Stewardship in Action articles are a great way to share information when you don't have time to write a manuscript; there are no page charges, and we can even handle the writing!

Members can find the complete April 2021 issue by logging into the NAA website. Content includes:

  • Assessment of Methods to Control Invasive Reed Canarygrass (Phalaris arundinacea) in Tidal Freshwater Wetlands
  • The Seasonal Influence of Invasive Shrubs on Light and Temperature in an Eastern Deciduous Forest Understory
