Natural Areas Association – Stewards of the Land For almost 50 years, the Natural Areas Association (NAA) has been at the forefront of the natural areas movement. A professional society, NAA is the only national, nonprofit membership organization dedicated to the support and advancement of natural areas professionals, who protect the world’s natural resources through science-based conservation, stewardship, and advocacy. From the very first Natural Areas Conference in 1974, NAA has provided a forum for leading figures in the conservation, preservation and restoration of natural areas. This periodic series will highlight some of the many NAA members who contributed significantly to the protection and management of biodiversity throughout the United States.
