NAA's Arkansas Regional Workshop in May Filled to Capacity

 

The response to our first Regional Workshop of 2019 was huge! Even after raising our capacity limit, we exceeded it and this May 7 and 8 event now has a waiting list.

 

This workshop covers various components of the Arkansas Native Seed Program, as well as important considerations for pollinators in our management of natural areas.

Venues Announced for 2020 and 2021 Natural Areas Conferences

Our 2020 Natural Areas Conference will be in Reno, Nevada on Oct. 14-16. We are excited to bring the conference to the banks of the Truckee River, which connects the Sierra Nevada mountains to the Great Basin. 

 

Our 2021 Natural Areas Conference will be in Duluth, Minnesota, September 21-23, on the shores of Lake Superior. Mark your calendar!

John Bacone: 42 Years of Preserving Indiana's Natural Areas

John Bacone's accomplishments on behalf of Indiana's natural areas are a testament to his dedication. During his time as director of nature preserves, the system grew from 51 preserves in 1979, to more than 280 today. Here he talks about his favorite memories, his work, and his fervent hopes for the future.

An understudied but important topic for NA practitioners. 

New Special Issue of the Natural Areas Journal

"Managing Land from a Water Quality Perspective" came out in February 2019. This special issue focuses on the state of scientific research on practices used to restore and manage conservation lands which affect water quality, water quantity, and freshwater ecosystems.
